Doug and Karen Abels joined the team during the summer of 2016. They spent nearly 20 years ministering in Christian education on the island of Guam before coming to Georgia. Doug has degrees in Math Education, Secondary Education, and Educational Leadership from Bob Jones University. His time spent on Guam has given him a love for other cultures and for discipleship. Doug is keenly interested in

developing Christ-honoring, eternity-focused relationships with others in the church and school ministry. He values the platform of Christian education as a powerful tool to build young people and their families for the glory of God.

Doug and Karen have four children who were all born in Guam: Jesse (2002), Seth (2004), Jake (2006), and Emma (2008). The kids enjoy all kinds of sports, reading, drawing, and anything Star Wars related. Family times involve nerf gun wars, swimming, basketball, and singing as a family around the ukulele.
